Hampi
Hampi was the site of the Vijayanagar Empire which thrived from the 1300s until the late 1500s. Located about 353 km northwest of Bangalore, Hampi is a a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with ruims situated among hills and dotted with numerous granite boulders. Spectacular. Not to be missed if you visit India.
Mangalore
On one of our two forays to Mangalore Bangalore, (file names of India_mang_river_XX), we went to the coastal town of Mangalore. Two rivers meet here and dump into the Arabian Ocean. Most of these shots are taken in the busy dock are and across one of the rivers to a Muslim area where there was a lot of boat building activity, and many sandlot cricket matches.
Nandi Hills
Former raja and then British hill station, a cooler spot to protect your assets. About 70 kms north of Banglaore. The Hindu temple shots are from a nearby village to the east of the hill.
